Trip to Cognac with Louis XIII
Hello Guys,
I hope you are well and enjoying your summer days, even if it is a little bit rainy this Zuri Faescht weekend!
July is already here, and of course, I am back in Zürich, enjoying the Zuri Faescht, and I am almost ready for the first part of my summer holidays.
As you’ve seen already on my IG , 2 weeks ago I spent some days in Cognac invited by favorite Louis XIII.
It’s not the first time that I show you on the blog about Louis XIII (check my last post here) and of course that trip was so unique and I really wanted to share more with you.
It was my first time in Cognac, a small city close to Bordeaux, and it’s the city where Louis XIII was born and still produced there.
My first stop was at the Maison Louis XIII, where I had the opportunity to meet Thierry Arnold, International Brand Ambassador of Louis XIII and learn more about the history behind this legendary Cognac. At the Maison Louis XIII, designed by the most famous French engineer, Gustave Eiffel, were the first cellars of this cognac. Nowadays is the offices of Remy Martin where you had the opportunity also to see where is locked the only copy of the “100 Years - The Movie You Will Never See" which is an exclusive original film starring John Malkovich and Directed by Robert Rodriguez. It envisions Earth one hundred years from now and will not be released in its entirety until 2115! Here will be also the place were will be locked the only copy of Pharrell Williams, “100 YEARS”, the sonf we ‘ll only hear #IFWECARE, a century from now!
After Maison Louis XIII ,I was transferred to see the Domain du Grollet, the first house of Rémy Martin, and also the first place where there was a production of Louis XIII, from the aging cellars to the finally packaging and transfer.
It was so great to see how the production started and of course to learn and see more about the history of Louis XIII.
At Domain du Grollet, I had the opportunity also to visit some of the vineyards. Louis XIII cognac is produced in the Grande Champagne region of Cognac, from the growing of the grapes to the distillation and aging of the eaux-de-vie. The final blend is composed of up to 1,200 individual eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne vineyards, ranging from at least 40 years to 100 years in age.
After the vineyards, we had lunch into one of the historical distillery! The table setting was incredible and so unique!
At Domain du Grollet, also I had an opportunity for a once in a lifetime experience, as I enjoyed my favorite Cognac directly from an aging cellars.
A part of the existing production, are still at Domain du Grollet , so there are still aging cellars. It is so difficult to describe the feeling when I entered and see, smell and feel the cellars and finally enjoy a glass of Louis XIII ,directly from the cellars.
Really, I feel so honored and so grateful that I had this experience!!
Our trip, hadn’t finished yet ,as it was time to see all the part of the production, at the nowadays distillery of Louis XIII. I saw from the first step where the spirit has still lot of alcohol, until the last step when the f the best eaux-de-vie create the final Louis XIII.
Last stop was the aging cellars with most of the production of Louis XIII.
I really can’t describe how amazing was that trip. I already was a huge fan of LOUIS XIII and I already knew a lot about the history and the production, but during this trip I had the honor to feel and touch and see from the heart of the production how exclusive and unique is this cognac.
Thank you so much Louis XIII, and I can’t wait for the next experience with you!
